AsparGo announces the release of the Arco Journey: a gamified learning experience.

AsparGo Rebrands and Launches Arco: A New Chapter for Urban Gardening

Shortly after the release of its beta version in November 2024, AsparGo is back with an exciting update: a fully rebranded app and a new learning-based menu designed to guide users from basic gardening skills to more advanced science and agriculture topics.

With its initial rollout focused on Brazil, AsparGo welcomed its first hundred users — home growers who tested the app’s tools and began sharing their harvests and daily gardening experiences on the community Feed.

“The most exciting thing about releasing the beta was finally seeing people explore something that used to be just an idea,” says Alefe Amorim, founder of AsparGo. “Even though we know it’s not the final version, it was a big milestone.”

From Toolset to Learning Hub

The first version of the app offered a complete toolkit for garden organisation. Users could create seed and plant collections, set watering and fertilising reminders, and build their own growing calendar. But feedback from the community soon revealed that people wanted more than just tools — they wanted knowledge.

“We thought growers just needed a better system,” Alefe explains. “Most people juggle several apps — a plant ID app, a calendar, maybe a spreadsheet or notebook. So we built a toolkit that put it all in one place. But then we realised: tools are not enough — people want to learn.”

With nearly 30,000 followers engaging daily on AsparGo Brasil instagram profile, the team listened closely. Overwhelmingly, users were asking for an educational experience that made gardening simple, practical, and fun.

Enter Arco: A Mascot for a Greener Future

After five months of development, the team introduced Arco — AsparGo’s new mascot and the heart of its reimagined learning journey.

Inspired by apps like Duolingo, Arco leads users through an interactive, gamified pathway. Using quizzes, bite-sized lessons, and personalised challenges, Arco helps users build real-world gardening skills while unlocking advanced knowledge over time.

“Arco represents the arch between the present and the greener future he comes from,” Alefe shares. “He’s not just a guide — he’s a companion in your journey toward growing your own food.”

A Personalised Learning Experience, Backed by Science

The new Arco journey goes far beyond casual tips. It was developed in collaboration with scientists to ensure that users gain reliable, science-based knowledge — all in a format that’s engaging and fun.

“I don’t want to spoil anything,” Alefe teases, “but users will be pleasantly surprised by how personalised the journey is. This isn’t just a one-size-fits-all course. It’s designed to meet each user where they’re at.”

What’s Next

The updated version of the app will be available for beta testing early next month. Users will be able to complete the Arco Journey, learn essential gardening principles, and take their first steps toward building urban farms — right from their balconies, backyards, or windowsills.
